Applications invited for the 2025-26 ‘NMMS’ exam, here is complete information for students

Applications are invited for the NMMS examination for the year 2025-26. Applications are invited online for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) ด -1 for the year 2025-26 as per the guidelines of the Department of School Education & Literacy, New Delhi.

The said examination will be conducted by the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSCAA) on 07.12.2025 for students studying in class 8 in government, aided and local body schools in the year 2025-26. Accordingly, the online application for the NMMS examination will be made available from 10.09.2025 on the NMMS login of the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board website https://kscab.karnataka.gov.in. School Headmasters/Principals must mandatorily submit the applications of their school students online. The last date for submitting the application is 15.10.2025.

Brief details of NMMS exam:- The main objective of this scheme is to provide scholarships to students studying in class 8 in government, aided and local body schools, to prevent economically backward talented students from dropping out of school at the secondary school level and to motivate them to continue their education. The said exam is being conducted in Kannada, English, Urdu, Marathi and Telugu mediums, and this exam will be conducted by the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSQAAC) at taluk centers.
Only students studying in class 8 in government, aided and local body schools in the year 2025-26 and whose annual income of the parents is less than Rs. 3.50 lakh (Rs. Three lakh fifty thousand only) lakh are eligible to apply for the NMMS exam.

Students of residential schools are not eligible to apply for the NMMS examination. (Ex: Morarji Desai, Kittur Rani Chennamma, Navodaya School, Vajpayee School, Ekalavya, K.G.B.V., Ambedkar Residential School etc.) Similarly, students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sainik Schools are also not eligible for this examination, students of any private aided residential schools receiving funds from the government are also not eligible to apply for this examination. If applications are submitted in violation of the Board’s instructions, such students will not be allowed to appear for the examination and disciplinary action will be taken against the headmasters of such schools.
